Love is Love

The program then shifts into passionate storytelling with contrasting takes on Romeo and Juliet — Tchaikovsky’s lush romanticism meets Bernstein’s sharp, jazzy modernism — both capturing the ache and ecstasy of ill-fated love.

The evening’s highlight is the world premiere of Pulse by Brisbane-based composer Joe Twist — a piece that pulses with rhythmic energy and emotional depth, marking a new moment for LGBTQIA+ representation in orchestral repertoire.
