Pink Swans

A mesmerising visual exploration of nature through a queer lens, Pink Swans uses infrared technology to reveal hidden layers of beauty and diversity in the natural world. Based on a University of Melbourne study revealing that 25-30% of male native black swans engage in same-sex partnerships, this exhibition invites viewers to see the world differently — not just through colour, but through identity, ecology, and belonging.

The installation plays on loop during the evenings at Fish Lane: Town Square, transforming the urban landscape into a canvas for queerness. As the dusk settles and the city hums around you, let the swans’ silent, glowing presence remind you that nature has always been queer — we just needed new eyes to see it.

Curated with care and intention, this is more than an exhibition — it’s an intervention in public space, a quiet celebration of diversity, and a reminder that even in the everyday, wonder and queer joy are never far away.
