Trophy Boys

A sharp, queer dark comedy that takes aim at power, privilege, and the absurdities of adolescent masculinity — all wrapped in a satirical debate format. Performed by a female and non-binary cast in drag, this play follows the high-stakes prep session of elite students from St Imperium College as they debate the motion: ‘that feminism has failed women.’ What begins as biting comedy quickly veers into darker territory, exposing the fragility beneath performative confidence.

Winner of the Best New Work at the Sydney Theatre Awards (2024) and nominated for multiple Green Room Awards, Trophy Boys is acclaimed for its bold writing and magnetic performances. Critics have called it “the kind of play that has you leaning forward in your seat” — a compelling blend of wit, tension, and theatrical flair.

The production returns to Brisbane under the direction of Anne Pensalfini, known for her innovative work including Drag King Biron Bothways and Dragspeare: Drag Kings do Shakespeare. Following a sold-out national tour and an extended off-Broadway run, this season promises layered storytelling and razor-sharp dialogue.
