Art Express, September
Calling all trans, gender diverse, and non-binary folks (plus your allies!) — it’s time to pick up a brush, clay, or whatever medium calls to you. Art Express is back for September, a free, drop-in creative space designed to affirm, connect, and let your inner artist run wild — no experience needed, just bring your whole self.
Facilitated by Tiger Salmon (they/them), a queer writer, artist, and Visual Art educator with a Master’s in Therapeutic Arts Practice, each session is a gentle guided journey into self-expression. Think of it as art therapy with zero pressure and maximum support. Whether you’re doodling, painting, collaging, or just watching and listening — you belong here.
This is more than art class; it’s a soft space to breathe, create, and feel seen. The vibe is cozy, inclusive, and explicitly neurodivergent, POC, and all-abilities friendly. You’re encouraged to wear your favourite mask if it helps you feel safer, and N95/K94 masks are available on-site for everyone. We prioritise community care — that means open windows (bring layers!), hand sanitiser, and air purification. Feel like you’re coming down with something? Stay home, and let us know — we’ll happily hold your spot for next time.
Got questions? Reach out to coordinator@tgv.org.au. And if you’re under 16? This one’s for the grown-ups — but keep your eyes peeled for youth-focused events coming soon.
This event is proudly hosted by TGV’s Affirmation Station — Australia’s first trans-led community and peer support hub. They’re all about building spaces where TGD folks can connect, explore, and thrive. For more info about their services, check out their website.
