FREE Friday Comedy @ The 86

Every Friday, The 86 in Fitzroy transforms into Melbourne’s favourite cabaret bar for free stand-up comedy nights. Doors open at 5:30pm, with laughter kicking off at 6:30pm and the final punchline landing by 8pm — perfect timing to kick off your weekend with friends, or wind down after work without breaking the bank.

Hosted by Benny P, Sharam Namdarian, and Adem Ulutas, the bill features fresh local talent alongside seasoned comedians — and occasionally, someone you might recognise. Whether you’re here for the jokes, the drinks, or both, this is a warm, inclusive space with zero tolerance for sexism, homophobia, or racism. Celebrate comedy as it should be — open, honest, and for everyone.

Grab a seat with a $32 table booking (includes a jug of beer or 4 glasses of wine for up to 4 guests), or stand and mingle — entry is free. From 5pm to 9pm, enjoy $10 pints and basics; and from 7pm onwards, cocktail lovers can indulge in ’80s classics for just $15. Tables are reserved until 9pm, after which they’re re-set for the next show — so if you’re adding tapas or platters, make sure to grab them at the bar before then.

The 86 acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land — the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations — and invites all guests to reflect on their generosity in sharing this space.
