Gorgonà - Australian Premiere at MQFF 2025

Get ready for a mind-bending dystopian sci-fi that will leave you breathless! Set in a remote Greek city-state dominated by a massive refinery, this action-packed thriller explores power dynamics, sexuality, and survival in a world where petrol is everything.

When the powerful leader Nikos must choose a successor, he shocks everyone by naming Maria, his protégée, as a contender. As Maria grapples with her complex family history, the arrival of Eleni, a mysterious bar singer, sets in motion a chain of events that will change everything.

Making its Australian Premiere at MQFF, this Mad Max-style dystopia masterfully blends mythology with contemporary queer storytelling. Director Evi Kalogiropoulou's feature debut is a stunning addition to the new wave of queer cinema, creating an immersive world rich in aesthetic excess where sex, power, and petrol collide.
