LGBTQIA+ Gaming Session @ Fortress
Grab your controllers, decks, or dice — the LGBTQIA+ Gaming Session is back at Fortress Melbourne for another round of joy, laughs, and low-stakes fun.
Whether you’re new to gaming or a seasoned veteran, this is your space to connect, play, and chill with folks who love games as much as you do. Our admins — look for the Gaymers lanyards — are here to help you find your crew, explain the rules, or just chat about your favorite Nintendo Switch titles.
Expect a cozy, welcoming environment with Nintendo Switches ready for Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., and Boomerang Fu. Plus, there’s a board game library, Jackbox games, and giant Jenga and Connect 4 for those who prefer analog fun. Feel free to bring your own portable games — Steam Deck, Switch cartridges, or even your favorite MTG decks.
Fortress’s Level 2 Arena is our home base for the afternoon — quiet enough to hear your friends, but buzzing with the energy of great games and good company. The venue is wheelchair accessible, with lifts to Level 2, and the vibe stays low-fi and conversational (no loud rave vibes — that’s upstairs in the Tavern).
Snacks and drinks? Yep — available at the bar. Just remember: no BYO, and please follow the venue’s Responsible Consumption guidelines linked in the FAQ. Everyone here is 18+, and we have zero tolerance for any behavior that makes folks feel unwelcome. If something doesn’t sit right, flag it to our admins — we’ve got your back.
Arrive on time to grab a table and jump into long-form games, or show up later — we’ll help you find something fun to join. Solo? No problem. Our newbies group runs on the day to help you meet the crew. And whether you’re booking ahead or popping in as a walk-up, you’re always welcome.
Free tickets? Yes — they help us plan ahead and keep the event running smoothly. Plus, you’ll get a handy reminder closer to the date and be first in line for future events.
Fortress is easy to find — just hop off at Melbourne Central or catch a tram nearby. Need directions? Use the mapped link provided. And if you're new or shy, don’t stress — we’re all here for the same thing: fun, games, community.
