Ten Years of Running Proud, One Rainbow Step at a Time

It’s Valentine’s Day with extra sparkle — and a whole lot of heart. The 2027 Melbourne Pride Run is rolling into its tenth year, and the organisers aren’t just celebrating — they’re redefining what it means to lace up, step out, and run with joy. Held on Sunday, 14 February 2027, this isn’t just another footrace. It’s a community gathering, a milestone moment, and a celebration of inclusion, pace, and pride — all wrapped up in one unforgettable morning.

Presented by Melbourne Frontrunners, the event takes runners, walkers, and strutters on a scenic loop around The Tan, lined by the lush Royal Botanic Gardens. Whether you’re chasing personal bests or soaking in the vibes, every stride is welcome. Finishers don’t just get a high-five — they get a dated medal, so your collection tells the story of every year you showed up.

The Course? Think Love, Not Lactic Acid

The course is a 3.8km or 7.6km loop around The Tan — mostly flat, tree-shaded, and perfectly paced for all. The only real challenge? Conquering the Anderson Street hill — where you’ll find not just cheers, but upgraded sound gear to keep your energy soaring. The finish line? Under the rainbow arch, naturally. That’s where the real party begins — the Pride Run Village, now bigger, louder, and packed with more queer sporting clubs, partners, and activities to keep the momentum going.

What’s New for Year Ten?

  • Dated Medals — Every runner gets a medal stamped with 2027. Your collection just got more meaningful.
  • Pace-Based Starts — No more crowding. Waves are now staggered by pace, so everyone gets their moment without the chaos.
  • Bigger Sound — New audio gear means more beats, more motivation, and more music waiting for you at the top of Anderson Street.
  • More Inclusive — Feedback from 2026 showed 91.4% of participants felt welcome. The organisers are working to push that even higher — with every volunteer briefed to help keep the vibe warm, safe, and joyful.
  • More Photos — Age-group categories and more on-course photography mean every smile, stride, and sweat-drenched high-five gets captured.

From Group Chat to Grand Tradition

It all started in 2017 — a handful of Frontrunners, rainbow laces, and one loop of The Tan. By 2019, word had spread. In 2022, runners reunited with joy after the quiet years. In 2025, the start and finish relocated to make space for growth. And in 2026? Inclusivity soared. Now, in 2027, the event returns — not just to mark a decade, but to celebrate the love, the community, and the steady rhythm of footsteps that keep this run alive.

The Morning Unfolds Like This

The Pride Run Village opens at 7:00 AM — think warm-up DJ, bib collection, and early-morning vibes. Runners hit the track at 8:30 (3.8km) and 8:40 (7.6km), while walkers follow at 8:50. Medals, presentations, and a village party kick off at 10:00 AM — because why stop celebrating when the fun’s just getting started?

Because Running Should Feel This Good

There’s no wrong pace here. No pressure to be fast. No judgment for walking. Just a shared love of movement, of community, of showing up — together. Whether you’re lacing up for the first time or your tenth, this run is for you. Let your stride tell your story. Let the crowd cheer you on. Let the rainbow arch welcome you home.
