Memory Lane Café — Where Queer Hearts & Warm Tea Collide
Calling all LGBTQI+ folks, loved ones, caregivers, and allies — this ain’t your average coffee shop. Memory Lane Café is the tender, thoughtful, and deeply human gathering spot where dementia doesn’t steal the spotlight, but love, laughter, and connection do. Think gentle jazz humming under cozy chatter, finger food that tastes like home, and a room that’s as safe as it is soft.
Brought to you by the Victorian Pride Centre in warm collaboration with Dementia Australia and Lifeview Residential Care, this isn’t just social — it’s soulful. Trained staff and volunteers from Dementia Australia are present to lend ears, hearts, and practical support. No judgment, no rush, no agenda — just a space to exist, share, and simply be.
⚠️ This is not a party. There’s no bass drop. No glitter cannons. No drag queens strutting in six-inchers (unless someone’s feeling fancy — we don’t gatekeep). It’s chill, comforting, and intentionally quiet — the kind of place you bring your nan, your partner’s friend’s uncle, or just yourself when you’re craving softness in a loud world.
🎟️ Free entry — but reservations are required. Don’t roll up expecting to just vibe in — this space is thoughtfully curated for comfort and care. Book your spot with Maryanne, the Memory Lane Coordinator, via 1800 100 500 or email vic.memorylanecafe@dementia.org.au. Seriously — do it. Spots fill up like a Sunday brunch at the best drag brunch in town (but quieter, and with more hugs).
📍 Located in the heart of St Kilda at the Theatrette — Victorian Pride Centre, 79-81 Fitzroy Street, Victoria 3182, AU. Grab a cab, hop on the tram, or walk like you’re going to your favourite queer bookstore — because this is your queer sanctuary.
