Australian Premiere at MQFF 2025

Join us for this poignant documentary that bridges two contrasting worlds at a small cemetery in Zeeland. Director Koert Davidse masterfully reconstructs the life of his brother Bart through an intimate lens of childhood memories, interviews, and a collection of Bart's artistic works including drawings, toys, and paintings.

This deeply moving film explores the intersection of a traditional religious family and the vibrant 1980s Amsterdam gay community, telling the story of a brother lost to AIDS at just 28. More than a personal tribute, it stands as a powerful testament to queer resilience, the possibility of family reconciliation, and the enduring impact of authentic living.

The feature presentation will be accompanied by the touching Dutch short film 'Where We Stay' directed by Florence Bouvy, which explores the unspoken feelings between longtime friends Carry and Daniel as they face the reality of Carry's illness.
