Night in West Texas - International Premiere at MQFF 2025

Join us for this powerful and harrowing documentary that tells the story of James Reyos, a gay Apache man wrongfully convicted of murdering a Catholic priest in 1981 in Odessa, Texas. Directed by Peabody Award-winning filmmaker Deborah S. Esquenazi, this moving film follows one man's decades-long struggle for justice.

When police rushed to convict Reyos after a confusing self-confession that he quickly recanted, they ignored the complete lack of physical evidence. Sentenced to 38 years in prison, Reyos's case seemed hopeless until long-buried evidence emerged years later. Now, with support from the Innocence Project of Texas, Reyos fights to clear his name in this compelling story of perseverance and community support.
