A Heartfelt Documentary Reimagining Trans Youth Stories

Get ready for a groundbreaking documentary that flips the script on traditional transition narratives! Niñxs follows the incredible journey of queer teen Karla Bañuelos, serving pure authenticity and joy in this unique cinematic collaboration.

Filmed over eight years in a conservative small town, we witness Karla's legal transition journey, supported by her punk-rock parents and fierce friend group. When asked what she wants audiences to feel, Karla's answer is simple: pure joy and laughter - and trust us, this film delivers!

Director Kani Lapuerta breaks documentary conventions by co-creating this intimate portrait with Karla herself. The result? A fresh, playful perspective that puts youth agency front and center.

Screening includes the Australian short film Fourteen and Nine Months directed by Yvette Turnbull, where teen Freya's job at a kitchen store leads to an unexpected queer awakening when a lesbian couple's request turns her world upside down.
