Nomads Friday Cycling — Virtually Every Friday
Got a free Friday and love riding two wheels? Join the Nomads Friday cyclists — a welcoming crew of locals who pedal around metro Melbourne and sometimes venture into Regional Victoria. No world records, no pressure — just good company, scenic routes, and the joy of moving under your own steam.
The rides vary in length — typically between 30–50 km — with options to extend or shorten depending on your energy level. They usually start at 10:30am, so you can avoid peak-hour train chaos with your bike. Many mornings begin with a coffee in a local café — a chance to chat, stretch, and gear up before hitting the trail.
Expect casual, social vibes. Most rides finish near train stations or in cafés with lunchtime service — though occasionally you’ll need to pack a picnic. Ride details are posted every Wednesday evening in the Archive - Friday Bike Rides document. The weather forecast helps pick the best route — think tailwinds and minimal rain risks.
Want to be in the loop? Register once via the ‘Get Tickets’ button — you’re just giving us your contact details (no payment required). Once you’re on the list, simply add your name to the Friday Attendees spreadsheet the day before your ride. First name plus surname initial is fine — just click out of the cell so it saves.
Questions? Reach out to Alan Drummond at LeaderAland@nomads.org.au or call 0415 771 220. Not sure if you’re ready for the group? Alan’s happy to help you plan your first ride — no pressure, no expectations.
Cost? Totally free. This is a chance to hang out, get familiar with the group, and see what Nomads is all about. After 5+ rides, you’ll be invited to join officially — but until then, pedal free and be yourself.
