Pottery Night — Nerikomi Trinket Dish Workshop

Unlock your inner ceramicist with a hands-on intro to the Japanese art of Nerikomi — swirling layers of clay into mesmerising patterns. No skill? No problem. This beginner-friendly workshop invites you to create your very own trinket dish (approx. 10cm), perfect for keys, earrings, or tiny treasures.

Hosted by ceramicist Kayleigh Heydon at Studio Take Care, the evening begins with bar service at 5:30pm, followed by the workshop at 8pm. The studio buzzes with warm queer-positive energy — think low-lit corners, thoughtful conversations, and a space where creativity meets connection.

Feel free to linger — the studio stays open until bedtime, and light drinks are available for purchase. Workshop spaces are capped at 30 to keep things cozy and personal, so book early to reserve your spot.

Don’t let accessibility hold you back: while the upper level is currently not wheelchair accessible, the venue is working toward improvements. For transit, Pitt Street is on the Lygon Street tram line (nos. 1 and 6), though stops are not ramp-accessible. The nearest ramp-accessible stop is Nicholson Street (stop 21 on the 96 tram), a 950m walk away.

The studio is located at 1 Pitt St, Brunswick — a spot that’s as welcoming as its vibe. Parking is limited on Pitt Street, so consider Loyola Avenue as a backup option. Secure bike parking is available right outside.
