Public Cervix Announcement
Let’s talk about something that often doesn’t get the love it deserves: cervical screening. Whether you’re due for your next test, thinking about it for the first time, or just curious about what’s involved — this session is for you.
Hosted by Ada Castle (she/her) from Cancer Council, it’s a warm, judgment-free space for queer women and people with a cervix aged 25–74 to ask questions, learn what options you have, and figure out how to make screening feel more comfortable for your body and your life.
Expect practical info, gentle humour, and space to let go of the awkwardness. You’ll walk away with clearer knowledge — and maybe a bite to eat, thanks to catering from Thorne Harbour Health.
Session highlights:
- What HPV is — and how it connects (and doesn't) to cervical cancer
- Your screening options explained — including self-collection, and what the process really looks like
- How to make screening easier: tips for reducing anxiety or discomfort
- Screening while on testosterone — what you need to know about timing, care and your body
- How to talk to your healthcare provider — setting boundaries, explaining your needs, asking questions
- Finding LGBTQIA+ affirming care — where to look and what to expect from supportive providers
This isn’t about fear or shame — it’s about empowerment. Because understanding your body, knowing your options, and finding care that sees you is what real wellness looks like.
Come as you are. Learn as much or as little as you’d like. Bring your questions — we’ll hold space for all of them.
