Synth 101 (Women, Trans & Gender Diverse)

Alright, synth-curious legends — this one’s for you. Forget the intimidating jargon and the boys’ club vibes. Synth 101 is your safe, sassy, no-judgement zone to dive into the wild world of electronic sound-making. Whether you’ve never touched a knob or you’re just tired of being told you ‘don’t belong’ — guess what? You do. And we’re here to prove it.
Hosted by MESS (Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio — total vibes), this hands-on workshop is designed for complete beginners. You’ll be paired with other queer, trans, and gender-diverse folks to explore oscillators, filters, envelopes, and all those other sexy technical words you’ve heard but never understood. Think of it as a sonic playground with zero pressure and 100% empowerment. You’ll be building your own sounds, experimenting with MESS’s legendary collection, and giggling while you do it.
The vibe? Welcoming as hell. Supportive as a best friend with bottomless coffees. Led by folks who get it — because they’ve been there too. No prior experience needed — just bring your curiosity, your questions, and your energy.
Still on the fence? Reach out — we’re super friendly and happy to answer any and all questions. Seriously, don’t be shy. This is your community.
