The Education of Jane Cumming

A powerful historical drama set in 1810 Edinburgh, where two female educators dare to reimagine education — and their own lives — in a world unwilling to accept them. When a student’s explosive accusation threatens to shatter their reputation and relationship, the film asks: what does it cost to live authentically?

Directed by Sophie Heldman, this intimate yet bold feature explores the quietly revolutionary acts of queer love and intellectual freedom against all odds. With stirring performances and exquisite period detail, it’s a story that resonates deeply — whether you’re drawn to period dramas, queer cinema, or stories of women shaping their own destinies.
