Trans Life Drawing with Frances Cannon, October

Step into a gentle, affirming space where creativity and community come together. This session is strictly for transgender, gender diverse, and nonbinary adults, offering a safe and welcoming environment to explore life drawing under the guidance of artist Frances Cannon (they/them). Whether you’re picking up a pencil for the first time or you’ve sketched your way through a dozen life sessions, this class is designed to meet you where you are.

Frances brings a warm, encouraging presence and a range of drawing techniques that help you connect to your materials and your subject without pressure. Modeling for the evening is provided by the talented Georgia (they/them/she), whose presence adds both confidence and grace to the session. All drawing materials are included — no need to bring your own supplies.

Frances Cannon is a Naarm-based artist known for their work in painting, illustration, and interdisciplinary crafts. Their art explores themes of gender, body positivity, ritual, and myth — all of which subtly weave into their teaching style. Expect a space that feels less like a class and more like a shared studio moment, with room to breathe, experiment, and connect.

There’s a $5 refundable deposit to secure your spot — refunded if you attend or cancel at least two days in advance. If that’s a stretch for you, reach out to coordinator@tgv.org.au — they’ll make it work.

We take care seriously at every event:

• Free N95 and K94 masks available — wear what works for you.
• Windows and doors open where possible for fresh air.
