World AIDS Day Memorial: Stop Stigma. Start Respect.
Join us for a meaningful evening of remembrance, reflection, and resilience as we observe World AIDS Day. Doors open at 5:00pm, with a powerful Smoking Ceremony taking place in the garden at 5:30pm — a moment of cultural healing and honoring of those we’ve lost.
The evening will be hosted by the incredible MC Sally-Anne Upton, who’ll guide us through a program of heartfelt stories and insights from inspiring community voices. Hear from speakers Cate Rowe, June Collins, and Mohamed Al Abri — each bringing their unique experiences and perspectives to the day’s themes of dignity, respect, and solidarity.
We’ll also be treated to a moving performance by Adam Noviello — blending artistry with advocacy to create an unforgettable moment of connection and hope.
This important event is presented by Thorne Harbour Health and the Melbourne AIDS Quilt, with generous support from Positive Women Victoria and Living Positive Victoria. It’s a space for everyone — whether you’re living with HIV, a loved one, a community member, or simply curious to learn — to come together, reflect, and reaffirm our collective commitment to ending stigma and championing compassion.
There is no charge for entry — all are welcome. Please arrive by 5:00pm to fully experience the Smoking Ceremony and evening program. This event will not be streamed live or recorded — it’s designed as an in-person moment of shared presence and community strength.
