Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) - Archibald Prize Exhibition

Join us for a cultural day out at the Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) as we explore the renowned Archibald Prize 2026 exhibition — the only Victorian venue hosting this prestigious touring display. This year’s exhibition features 59 finalists selected from over 1,000 entries, showcasing portraits that reflect the diverse stories of our times, from local heroes to familiar faces.

This outing is perfect for those who enjoy art, history, and a leisurely stroll. Starting at Southern Cross Station, we’ll take the train to Shepparton, enjoy a communal lunch at the GV Hotel, and then walk to SAM for a 2pm entry — the last entry is at 3pm. The final walk returns you to Shepparton Railway Station to catch the 5:03pm train back to Melbourne.

SAM, opened in 2021 and located opposite Lake Victoria, holds over 4,000 artworks, including one of Australia’s most significant ceramic collections. The Archibald Prize 2026 is a timed-ticket exhibition with entry at 60-minute intervals on the hour — our group will be scheduled for 2pm.
