Queer Friendships Photography Exhibition

Celebrate the bonds that matter most — chosen family, queer love, and connection — at the inaugural public exhibition of the Queer Friendships photography project. This heartfelt, community-driven collection features 46 black-and-white portraits created with friends, lovers, and kin across Sydney’s LGBTQIA+ community.

Step into the Yanada Room at Luna Apartments in Lewisham, where you’ll experience intimate, tender moments of connection frozen in time. The photos were captured during community photoshoots at Qtopia Sydney during Pride Fest and across the Inner West through the Creative Town Halls program — proof that art grows where we gather.

Get Creative, Not Competitive

This is more than an exhibition — it's a space for making, sharing, and hanging out. No experience? No problem. All materials are provided, and all vibes are welcome.

• 5pm–6pm: Zine creation — craft your own mini zine exploring friendship, identity, or just doodle to your heart’s content.

• 6pm–7pm: Collage — layer magazine cutouts, paint, glitter, or whatever sparks joy to build your own visual story.

• 4pm–9pm: Participatory artwork — contribute to a collective mural evolving throughout the night. Add your mark, leave your message, and see how the community shapes it together.

Whether you come to see the photos, make something, add to the collective piece, or just chill with your people — you’re welcome here. And yes, it’s free (but bookings are essential).
