Back for Summer, Back for Joy
We’re thrilled to welcome you back to Sad Dyke Sundays — your monthly queer summer escape under the open sky. Think of it as your invitation to slow down, dance freely, and soak in good company, good beats, and good vibes at the heart of Marrickville.
Each month features a fresh lineup of queer performers, DJs, and artists who make the courtyard pulse with energy and soul. October’s lineup is headlined by the one and only Charlie Villas, Lorna Clarkson, Betty Grumble, and Annabelle Gaspar — all spinning sounds designed to move your body and uplift your spirit. Auntie Wombat will be on grill duty, because no summer day is complete without delicious, smoky eats.
This event is held at Slipway, a beloved queer-run pop-up space nestled in the Mothership Studios Courtyard. The venue is wheelchair accessible — with ramped entry and an accessible bathroom inside — and designed to be a respectful, inclusive home for all bodies and expressions. Light haze is used, but there are no strobes, so you can groove comfortably.
Important to note: no BYO drinks or food. Everything you need — from refreshing cocktails to hearty bites — will be available on-site. Stay hydrated, wear sun protection, and bring your whole self.
Sad Dyke Sundays is more than just a party — it’s a celebration of community. We acknowledge that this space is on unceded Gadigal and Wangal land, and we stand in solidarity with First Nations peoples. A portion of all ticket sales will support the Mob Strong Fund, a grassroots initiative uplifting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. You can find more about their work at their Chuffed page.
Our house rules? No racism, ageism, transphobia, or ableism. This is a space for connection — to dance, to chat, to flirt, to chill — where every identity, every expression, is welcome. Come as you are. Stay as long as you like. Let’s make space together.
