Join the Fab Over 40s for a fascinating guided tour of one of Sydney’s hidden heritage gems — the magnificent Strickland House.
Perched on the shores of Sydney Harbour in Vaucluse, Strickland House is one of Australia’s finest surviving Victorian mansions. Originally built in 1856 as “Carrara”, this stunning waterfront estate offers a rare glimpse into Sydney’s colonial past, with beautifully preserved architecture, sweeping harbour views and picturesque grounds.
Led by a NSW National Parks guide, we’ll explore the history of the estate, its famous residents, its role as a women’s convalescent home and later aged care facility, and discover why it remains one of Sydney’s most significant heritage properties.
After the tour, join us for a picnic lunch (we will share food!) and enjoy the spectacular grounds and harbour views with the group.

🚍 Getting There
• By car: Limited parking is available on site and in surrounding streets.
• By bus: Routes 324 and 325 from Circular Quay stop nearby.
• By ferry: Catch the 9:45am ferry from Circular Quay to Watsons Bay, arriving around 10:08am, then make your way to Strickland House in time for our 10:15am meet-up. ( I will be catching the ferry!)
