A Cinematic Journey Through Black, Queer, Artistic Joy

Join us for Shatara Michelle Ford's sophomore film that delivers a powerful political yet deeply humanist narrative, reimagining the American road movie for modern times. After losing her job, Z embarks on an epic journey across the American Midwest with her two closest friends, searching for a missing member of their chosen family. As these three queer Black femmes navigate through familiar and foreign cities, they face mounting tensions and subtle dangers that test their bonds, beliefs, and sense of safety.

Featuring a stellar cast of majority queer and trans Black actors, this unapologetic celebration of friendship showcases the radical act of dreaming and the power of chosen family. Drawing inspiration from classics like Wim Wenders' Paris, Texas, Ford establishes herself as a true auteur, bringing audiences into the complex interior lives of her characters.

This feature presentation will be accompanied by the stunning short film 'Out of Focus' (Director: India Martin, USA), which celebrates Black queer women and chosen families thriving in love, tenderness, and connection.
