Victorian Premiere at MQFF 2025

Winner of Best Canadian Feature at the 2025 Inside Out Toronto 2SLGBTQ+ Film Festival, this heartwarming drama follows Z, a rising musical theatre star navigating their identity as a newly trans masc performer. When a crucial audition goes sideways, Z's entire world is thrown into question - from their career aspirations to their relationship and sense of self.

Just when hope seems lost, Z connects with a compassionate vocal coach who helps them rediscover their authentic voice. Shot over an entire year to authentically capture the physical and vocal transition journey of co-writer and star Breton Lalama, this groundbreaking film showcases the power of trans representation both in front of and behind the camera.

This special screening will be preceded by the World Premiere of the Australian short film Billie and Jesse directed by AP Pobjoy - a tender exploration of a couple navigating transition, identity and attraction.
